Is Email Marketing Still Effective?

In this video we answer the question:  “Is email marketing still effective?”

FAQ 7 – Is Email Marketing Still Effective?

In this video we’re going to talk about whether or not email marketing is still effective.

Using email for marketing can still be very effective for generating sales as well as for increasing existing customer satisfaction.

I like to say that email marketing was the original social media.

And in some ways it still is.

But let me step back for a moment and give you my definition of what email marketing is and is not.

WHAT EXACTLY IS EMAIL MARKETING?

Email marketing is communicating with those people who have voluntarily agreed, or “opted-in,” to receive email messages from you or have some existing relationship with you or your business.

Sending email to optin subscribers allows you to build a relationship over time. It is not a wham bam thank you ma’am type of marketing.

It’s something you nurture over time

While email marketing can be very effective at selling you also have to create value with your messages beyond your marketing messages or people will soon opt out.

We recommend a good mix of educational information about whatever your business is along with marketing messages, special offers, coupons, discounts, etc.

BUILDING YOUR EMAIL LIST

So how do you build an email list?

Glad you asked.

Offering something of value, as I just mentioned, starts with the call to action to sign up, or opt-in to your email newsletter in the first place.

If you’re a financial planner, offering a free report on how to save for your child’s education might be one way. A car dealership: 50 great vacation destinations you can drive to; a local bike shop: great mountain bike trails in your state. You get the idea.

Again, by offering something of value in return for an optin email is a sort of a social contract. I give you a reason to sign up and you give me your email address in return.

EMAIL MARKETING CAN INCREASE CLIENT/CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

In terms of increasing customer satisfaction by strategically deploying useful and relevant emails, sending a new client an email after a purchase with frequently asked and answered questions is a great way to build a deeper relationship.

Thanking clients and customers by sending them coupon codes and discounts also creates value and cements the relationship further.

And the beauty of email is that a lot of these processes can be set up automatically by using professional email marketing tools like Aweber, iContact, Mail Chimp, etc.

As you can see, there’s a lot more to email marketing then you may be aware of.

And as far as social media is concerned, email marketing has come full circle.

All major email marketing tools like Aweber and iContact, etc now offer the capability to post content directly to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google plus directly from within your email marketing dashboard.

And speaking of the dashboard, the last point I want to make is that email marketing is one of the few online marketing tools that allows you to view important stats and reports that allow you to see exactly who opened what email, what links they clicked on and more!.

So hopefully that answered the question about whether or not email marketing is still effective. Because the answer is an unqualified YES.

Thanks for watching.
